Ruth brings a multifaceted approach to her writing and editing practice: She cut her teeth in magazine publishing with Rogers Media, and quickly moved up the ranks to become a respected leader in Canada’s marketing communications sector. She has led sales-driven Account Management teams focused on omni-channel marketing, and has been responsible for building strategies and multi-million-dollar media executions for a variety of well-known brands, including Aimia/Aeroplan, BMO, Disney, P&G, Pepsico, QTG Canada, Rogers Media, TC Transcontinental, and Scholastic Canada.

She served as house copy editor and marketing consultant for Canadian small-press publisher Book*hug for six years, where she worked on 100+ poetry, prose and cross-genre titles. At the beginning of her freelance career, Ruth also worked with the editorial team at Knopf Random House on such award-winning titles as Us Conductors by Sean Michaels, All My Puny Sorrows by Miriam Toews, and Love Enough by Dionne Brand.

Ruth holds a Master of Arts degree from Western University, and has completed a dozen courses with the University of Toronto, Toronto Metropolitan University, and the Toronto New School of Writing, exploring poetry and prose writing, narrative and language use, and the practice of copy editing.
